parkinsons disease brain health program

No matter where you are in your journey with PD our program has something for YOU

Nearly one million people in the U.S. are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)

Approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with PD each year.

Men are 1.5 times more likely to have Parkinson's disease than women.

Despite modern care, patients with PD suffer from increased stress, decreased physical mobility, increased pain, social isolation, and emotional problems.

Moving Through Parkinson’s, LLC (MTP) is an affiliate program of CSU Dance. Founded by Lisa Morgan, MTP was started as an extension of ongoing classes through the Music Therapy Program at Colorado State University.  MTP classes are for people living with movement challenges that affect balance, coordination, strength, and more.  We have primarily focused on Parkinson’s,  but invite people living with MS, recovery from stroke, traumatic brain injury, and general aging mobility issues. Care partners are always welcome.

Classes are held in person and online at the CSU Center for Healthy Aging and sponsored by Parkinson's Association of the Rockies.  CSU Music Therapy students accompany the classes gaining practicum experience and CSU Dance majors participate as interns, gaining experience in and teaching dance as therapy. CSU Occupational Therapy students also join the classes, offering valuable spotting support for participants and collaboration on research projects.

Our Program offers evidence-based education, resources and advice to support you and your family as you begin to build a better life with Parkinsons disease.
